What's Happening?

This week WMO DJs barge out of their caves 'elbows out' and make a mess of things all over place:

Thursday night you can catch Booshank alongside Mr George for Tight @ Workshop in the CBD for all your blue-eyed funk and dazzy jisco cravings.

Friday night Booshank is warming things up for Mr George from 8-10 at Horse Bazaar in the CBD.

Saturday night Booshank returns to Workshop for the monthly Werk party alongside Alexandra. The duo will be playing grubby drum machine records, featuring REAL electro. From there Booshank heads to Revolver for The Late Show, where he and the inseparable Junji Masayama & Disco Harry (pictured) take over the back room from 10pm 'til Boogs shows up (probably around 7). Meanwhile Jake Judd & Nikki Sarafian will be holding court across the road at 161 for their weekly '4am until Nikki passes out on the mixer' throwdown. Once again, if you haven't seen these two play recently don't miss your next opportunity.

As always Lucky Coq hosts the mighty South Side Hustle (now in it's 4th year!) on Sunday night with Paz, Booshank, and guests Junji & Harry from 7pm.

So now you know.

Midnight Marauders

Jake Judd and Nikki Sarafian joined WHEEL ME OUT as contributors over two years ago, and what a mess it's been since. Every time I see a new post from Nikki I make myself a coffee, put on my reading glassess, and spend an hour editing and formatting his art-school inspired 'gonzo' approach to blogging. We're talking no capitalisation or punctuation, glaring grammatical errors, and border-line pornographic image choices. Strangely I don't mind mothering him through this stage.

Jake on the other hand is my golden child. Last year he posted a mix titled 'The Adventures of Lord and Lady Gaga' in reference to the recent revelation that said pop-star is a hermaphrodite. Beautiful. This caused a major spike in blog traffic, so then he then dropped a deuce of 'Celebrity Edits' and included a handful of music and porno celebrities in the post. Sure enough, traffic = heavy flow. Things of course went back to normal after that, but it's the potential and initiative he displayed that I love him for.

Anyway, Jake And Nikki have worked their butts off for the last year making a name for themselves around Melbourne and the international webosphere. These efforts have come into fruition this winter: they're holding down residencies at 161 and The Windsor Castle, and are fielding requests to DJ at The Carlton Club, Revolver Upstairs, The Toff In Town, New Guernica, The Lounge, etc. Keep an eye on the gig guide on the right hand side of the page (which I update for them, like a doting parent) and make an effort to catch them play soon.

This Friday they play a special head lining guest spot at the weekly Midnight Midnight jam at New Guernica. I asked Nikki what the dance floor should expect and he replied 'mysterious oddballs and obvious oddities'. Obviously. No doubt they've whipped up some edits especially for the night too.
